Steps To Take After A Damaging Storm

Assess the Exterior of Your Home

Walk around the perimeter of your home and document any damage with photographs. Signs of damage may include torn, curled, crooked, dented or missing shingles, downed gutters, broken windows, dented or missing roof vents, etc.

Assess Roof Damage

If you suspect roof damage call a professional to assess the damage. Especially after a damaging storm, the roof structure may be weakened and shingles may be slippery. Do not attempt to assess the roof yourself, call a trusted professional. Have pictures taken of any damage to present to the insurance company.

Inspect Interior of Your Home

Even though your roof may appear undamaged from the outside, wind and hail can cause the roof’s waterproofing to fail. Check the attic for any signs of water and along all light fixtures and windows. Document all damage with pictures.
